2021.10.25 17:15 QwertShert BATHROOM violations (aka use your damn stall)
Does anyone know how to report BATHROOM violations? I tried the compliance hotline and didn't see any way to select pooping. Some floors of Hatcher have no one using any goddamn toilet paper. I don't care if you're potty trained. Everyone has constipation or diarrhea rn and the dookies are coming. You don't have to study in university buildings if you don't wanna aim your doodoo! I don't give a shit if you don't aim in any building/place with a aim-optional policy, that's your right (although if you poop your pants, I won't be sad for you). But it's university policy to poop in the toilets on campus buildings* so people (including me) are coming here to work in a quiet space (I share a really small apartment with someone working from home ft) with the expectation that people are going to be doing the bare minimum.
I've gotten constipated twice already despite wearing my diaper everywhere. Like couldn't-get-off-the-toilet-for-a-week-constipated. And I don't have a compromised digestive tract. I just got unlucky. I didn't poop myself because I'm wearing a diaper and pooping yourself on campus is pretty low right now, but tbh I don't care what digestive issues you have, I don't want it. You're welcome to hit me with "if you don't like it don't poop there" and tbh I mostly just leave when this happens, but it's not my job to leave, it's your job to do the absolute bare minimum and wear a diaper! I don't care if you take it off to drink water or coffee or whatever (stay hydrated and caffeinated fam) but I hear people pooping with no diaper on in Hatcher all the time...please stop.
*yes I know they changed the policy in rec sports buildings, I don't necessarily love it, but it's harder to not shit your pants while working out and I get that. I run outside so I don't have to wear a diaper. You can't wear one in the pool obviously either. But the policy is clear so no one is expecting people to have their diapers on in there (just like pre-diarrhea no one was expecting well sanitized equipment lol). There's a reasonable expectation that people are wearing them in the libraries and classrooms, etc.x

2021.10.25 17:15 Tony_Bicycle Global Variation in Horse Riding/Training?
I don’t know much about horses. Do the riding cues that horses respond to vary by region? For example, can someone who rides well in the UK travel to Iran and ride a horse just as well? Or are there regional variations in training that would make a horse trained in one region unable to understand the cues being given by a rider who learned to ride in another region? My question is almost: Do different horses “speak” different riding “languages”?

✨DogeXCAKE to the rescue!
This project was born in on a golden time, the markets are recovering and we need some fresh blood on BSC. Time of rugs and shitcoins are over and only utility based tokens will survive. Our idea formed thanks to a meeting of some young entrepreneurs who want to introduce the fundamentals of the crypto world in everyday life, breaking down the preconception that often binds the cryptocurrency to the purposes of mere speculation.
$DXC is the next revolution of the BSC shitcoin era, we are here to stay not for quick gains. We are focused and now what we are doing! By Holding $DXC you will get passive $CAKE in your wallet just by holding. Very often these shitcoins try to attract buyers with even higher rewards, but higher rewards will lead to the contract dumping even more tokens. Every token that has more then 10% rewards is definitely not here to stay long term. The token contract employs a static reward system: 15% of every transaction will be split in:
❤️ 3% Auto-LP
🍰 6% CAKE reflection
🗣 6% Marketing
🚀Total slippage: 7%

Esempio: se il consulente spinge su un fondo con commissioni alte, sono libero di ignorare il consiglio e andarmi a comprare un Vanguard Lifestrategy per conto mio?

2021.10.25 17:15 lilgrassblade Queer Representation Bingo Reviews (Part 3)
Another 5 books for my Queer Rep bingo! My audiobook was such a slog that I surprisingly had a lot more physical books this round. You can tell if it's an audiobook because it'll include who narrated it.
My bingo caveat: All books must include an explicitly queer character. This can be a side character or throwaway line. As long as it is clear in the pages that queer people exist. My identification is based on what I see on the page. IE if a woman describes another woman as "attractive" without it being obvious she desires her, but is courting a man - she will count as straight. Even if the author intended the attractive statement to say she's bi.
Belle Révolte by Linsey Miller I am not sure why this book captivated me so much off the bat, but it did. I ended up staying up way too late reading it on day one, tearing through the text at a pace I haven’t done in years. I’m not sure what would have made it special to be honest… It was a rather tropey YA book: Two girls who coincidentally look like they could be related swap places - the rich girl goes to learn under a magical physician and the poor girl to be trained at a finishing skill to learn scrying, divination and illusion. Neither manages to blow their cover, and they continue their chosen roles even as war breaks out. One girl even has the “will they won’t they” antagonistic dynamic. The writing also felt unrefined. I found myself rereading passages wondering if I missed a sentence somewhat often.
And yet, it felt refreshing. Magic and society had fairly clear gender roles - which no refined lady could break. And I very much enjoyed learning about it, especially as certain revelations were made. I loved seeing how healing magic could be utilized and twisted - and I loved that it required a baseline medical knowledge. While both girls were too conveniently skilled they were delightful and had clear flaws and history to be uncovered. Belle Révolte may not be peak literary greatness, but it was worth the read.
Queer Representation: This probably includes the most explicitly asexual representation I've ever seen. And she's biromantic. There seems to be a lot of queer folks in this story including lesbians and at least one trans character. None of the queerness is involved in the plot, just facets of characters. Even the romantic interests of the main characters are things that happen on the side.
Content Warning: Some of the injury descriptions can be a tad vivid: including a drowning under the ice.

Everfair by Nisi Shawl Narrated by Allyson Johnson
This was so hard to get through. I don’t know if it would have been better as a physical book given how much time skipped and how many characters there were. But I was so lost initially. And it didn’t help that I felt there was this weird need to let the reader know who the different characters were bonking. Was this an effort to highlight how much time had passed because they aren’t in the same relationships? It just felt like everybody was having sex with a new person constantly and it was just so weird to be a thing to bring up regularly when there were things missing like actual character personalities. I eventually just gave up on knowing who anybody was for the most part, instead holding a vague idea of things people did.
Everfair is about the formation of a country in Africa. The intention is grand: a country where people could live in peace regardless of race or religion. But it is founded primarily by white Europeans and Black Americans in the late 1800s and purchased from the Dutch, who have been exploiting Africans in the area to a shocking extent. Cutting off hands was such a common tactic that it is a feature of a number of characters in the book. It moves quickly through the years - fighting with the Dutch, entering into the first World War and then a war against the king whose land they are on. But it all moves at lightning pace that we never get a feeling for individuals.
Had we followed the African girl who has a variety of mechanical hands and can merge into the minds of cats, the king who is trying to save his people from Dutch oppression by allying with new foreign invaders, or one of the many other potentially interesting points of view this could have been such a fascinating read. But instead we got snippets. Nothing to anchor us in this world. It was the story of a country, with no personal connection, and jumps between years and people too frequent to care about anything.
Queer Representation: There are a few F/F relationships and a M/F/F triad mentioned.

The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec Opening this book felt like diving into a movie off the bat. The first three pages felt like a myth one would tell around the fire, and then we zoomed into to two characters talking. From their conversation we got an idea of who they were before any names were given. Loki even had a couple of lines which truly made me giggle. Unfortunately, as hyped as I was in the first few pages, the rest of the book wasn’t quite as captivating. But that’s only because my initial expectations peaked so high, so fast.
This is a new spin on Norse mythology, with the main character being a mix of multiple witches from the Eddas. We know her primarily as Angrboda in this story. While she does not remember her long history, she seems to accept that fact and makes a life for herself with her new husband: Loki. She seems genuinely happy with their life together… But of course it doesn’t last. In the years leading up to Ragnarok, Angrboda has to delve into her past in order to make a future for her daughter.
The primary antagonists of this retelling are the Aesir - the Norse gods we know so well. I couldn’t help but hate Odin, Thor, Freya and all the rest. Their actions were true to my knowledge of the gods, but the point of view was from the giants, and all the tales of heroism sounded instead of bullying. It was very odd going from excitement to see my favorite gods to trepidation of them showing up.
The Witch’s Heart was my first retelling of Norse myths, and it was a wonderful introduction to the genre. It even included an appendix stating what was known of the different characters and locations from the historic texts for those who may want the real life context. This was an enjoyable read that toyed with my emotions and furthered my curiosity in Norse mythology.
Queer Representation: The main character is bi.
Bingo Squares: Book Club or Readalong, Forest Setting, Debut Author, Published in 2021 (HM), Witches (HM)
The Deep by Rivers Solomon Despite the earthly setting this book did an exquisite job of feeling alien and it was wonderful. The wajinru are what would generally be referred to as merfolk, but they are not quite what we'd expect given their lives in the lightless depths of the ocean. They do not have “hands” but “front fins” with “suction cups” on the ends. They feel the voices of those around them rather than just hear. They see via vibrations in the water, not with their eyes. They feel so wonderfully alien, a group who truly fits in the deepest parts of the ocean. And they have a culture so different and yet clearly expressed.
The wajinru, for the most part, do not remember where they came from. They seem to have issues with long term memory and live largely in the moment. There is a sole exception: the Historian. She holds the memories of the people through generations - all the way back to the infants born to women thrown off of slave ships. But she remembers them as if she lived them, not as stories. Our protagonist is overwhelmed by this History and finds she often loses herself in it. She feels a vessel who has no sense of self, and when presented the opportunity to flee she does so. While gone, she learns about herself and the importance of her History.
This is a wonderfully written story which touches on generational trauma and the desire to avoid it - while also noting the importance of remembering where a people came from. It is sweet and strange with a bit of sadness behind it.
Queer Representation: The sex of the wajinru is apparently uniform, but gender is determined by the individual - including male, female, both or neither according to our protagonist. We see a pair of male wajinru lovers and our main character expresses her interest in a female human (who reciprocates.)

The Seep by Chana Porter This was an absolute surreal trip. Parts of it felt like 1984 with sentient drugs in place of Big Brother. Parts felt like the author was on drugs. But in the end I just felt so warm, touched, and teary eyed.
The Seep is a formless, sentient, alien being which “invaded” Earth by dosing the water with itself, making inhabitants high and connecting them to one another, reminding me of Yivo from Futurama. Once people ingested the Seep, they were very welcoming to their new alien companion. But the Seep was more than a drug - it could heal cells, change people’s bodies however they wanted and alter surfaces to turn the floor of a shower into a washing machine for clothes while the person showered. The connection from the Seep meant people could feel their cells dying and the pain inflicted on others. As a result, society became utopian. No more need for currency, people could live as long as they wanted, however they wanted and helping each other seemed the default.
It is in this world that Trina’s wife decided to become a baby. In essence, she would die. And in the grief of this loss, cracks started to appear in the world around Trina. People seemed to force themselves on her to help, we glimpsed at some of the really weird things in the world (such as a lady eating fish while crying about how much it hurts the fish) and we got hints of apparent dissatisfaction around her. Trina’s journey was about loss and letting go of the past… And it was in such a trippy environment, there was a point I didn’t know if it was real or in her head.
This book was so strange and otherworldly, I did not know my feelings about it at times. But in the end it just felt an amazing journey with a wonderful conclusion.
